European Patent Convention – since July 1, 2005

The Geneva Act (1999) of the Hague Agreement concerning the International Registration of Industrial Design – since July 26, 2005

Locarno Agreement Establishing an International Classification for Industrial Designs (since April 14, 2005)

International Classification for Industrial Designs (Locarno Classification)

International Convention for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants (UPOV) – since August 30, 2002

The Convention Establishing the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), signed at Stockholm on July 14,1967; The Convention entered into force, with respect to Latvia on January 21,1993

The Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property, of March 20, 1883, as revised at Stockholm on July 14, 1967, and amended on September 28, 1979. The Paris Convention as revised at Stockholm on July 14, 1967, and amended on September 28 ,1979, entered into force, with respect to Latvia, on September 7, 1993

The Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works (entered into force in Latvia on August 11, 1995)

The Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), done at Washington on June 19, 1970

The Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) entered into force, with respect to Latvia, on September 7, 1993

The Madrid Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Marks of April 14, 1891, as revised at Stockholm on July 14, 1967, and as amended on September 28, 1979

The Madrid Agreement as revised at Stockholm on July 14, 1967, and as amended on September 28, 1979, entered into force, with respect to Latvia, on January 1, 1995

The Nice Agreement Concerning the International Classification of Goods and Services for the Purposes of the Registration of Marks of June 15,1957, as revised at Stockholm on July 14,1967, and at Geneva on May 13, 1977 and as amended on September 28, 1979; The Nice Agreement, as revised at Stockholm on July 14, 1967, and at Geneva at May 13, 1977, and as amended on September 28, 1979, entered into force with respect to Latvia, on January 1. 1995

The Budapest Treaty on the International Recognition of the Deposit of Microorganisms for the Purposes of Patent Procedures, done at Budapest on April 28, 1977, and amended on September 26,1980; The Budapest Treaty, as amended on September 26, 1980, entered into force, with respect to Latvia, on December 29, 1994

Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS Agreement), (1995), took effect in Latvia on October 14, 1998

Protocol Relating to the Madrid Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Marks, of June 27, 1989, took effect in Latvia on January 5, 2000

Hague Agreement Concerning the International Deposit of Industrial Designs, Hague Agreement (1925), revised at London (1934) and The Hague (1960), supplemented by the Additional Act of Monaco (1961), the Complementary Act of Stockholm (1967) and the Protocol o f Geneva (1975), and amended in 1979

Lisbon Agreement for the Protection of Appellations of Origin and their International Registration, Lisbon Agreement (1958), revised at Stockholm (1967), and amended in 1979

Agreement with European Patent Organization (EPO) on Extension of European Patents to the Territory of the Republic of Latvia (since May 1, 1995), signed in Munich on January 25, 1994

Agreement between the USA and the Republic of Latvia on trade relations and protection of intellectual property rights, took effect on 20 January, 1995

Trademark Law Treaty, done at Geneva on October 27, 1994, took effect in Latvia on September 17, 1999
